A dutch sailor anchoring in Tarrafal, who knew a lot about edible, wild plants, once pointed out to us that a frequent wild plant here is wild spinach. Since then it has become a welcome addition to our kitchen at Mar Tranquilidade. It is also a beautiful plant, capable of growing under almost impossible conditions, as here on the slopes behind our compound. |
